Next week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is considering the Promoting American National Security and Preventing the Resurgence of ISIS Act, which includes strong language sanctioning Turkey. As Turkey continues to escalate its threats in the Eastern Mediterranean, this crucial legislation will send a strong message to Ankara that it cannot act with impunity in the region. This bill needs to pass committee next week before it gets to the floor of the Senate for a full vote. That's why we need your help. The Act: Condemns Turkey’s invasion of Syria, its treatment of the Kurds, and demands that Turkey recall its troops. Restricts the sale of defense articles, services, or technology to Turkish Armed Forces in Syria. Declares that the US should oppose any loans from international financial institutions benefiting Turkey’s government. Requires the State Department to produce a report on Turkey’s commitment to NATO. Imposes sanctions on senior Turkish government officials.
