[PETITION] Say OXI to making Cyprus a colony of Turkey

Today, a retired Turkish Ambassador revealed what we've known all along: Turkey is not interested in a workable and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem, but in beating the Greek Cypriots. Not satisfied with Turkey's crimes over the last 43 years, he issued a call to use more illegal force against the Republic of Cyprus.  Here are some of his most notable comments:     "[I]f you do not corner the Greek Cypriots, they will not show interest in negotiations..."     "Greek Cypriots only understand the importance of the issue by show of force..." These are not the comments of someone who is working for peace and stability.  That they were made by a member of Turkey's foreign policy elite is very telling.  Unfortunately, the international community's kid glove treatment of Turkey's intransigence and crimes in Cyprus empowers Turkish officials to openly threaten more illegal actions. It is time for us to take a decisive stand.  You can make a difference.  The State Department and UN keep asking HALC and other diaspora groups to support a solution in Cyprus, and we will continue to work wholeheartedly for a Cyprus whole, free and at peace.  What we don't support -- AND WILL NEVER SUPPORT -- is a Cyprus subject to Turkish troops and rights of intervention.  To any solution that includes those elements we declare "OXI".
